Jugs of “premium” conventional Valvoline were on sale at Walmart for $14 each ($10.70 USD). I picked up 5 quarts of 5w30 and a filter, and can now change my oil for less than $21 Canadian (less than $16 USD), excluding environmental fees and the cost of a new drain pan and funnel. The local quick-change shops charge $40 with a coupon, so I consider that a win.

The last change I did in my old Corona Exiv my dad sent me down to the shop with his credit card.. I did the change with Valvoline 10w50 Racing Synthetic oil, my reasoning being that I drove it so hard it needed it...

In my experience Walmart always has the best prices on oil. They carry a huge assortment as well.

A couple of times a year, Mobil runs rebate deals that end up pretty cheap. I usually stock up then so I have enough for 2 or 3 oil changes. I think I have around 10 quarts of 5w-30 in my garage at the moment.

Edit: Speak of the devil...
Walmart isn’t listed as one of the stores, but if you call the rebate info number they’ll tell you that they’ll honor just about any store’s receipt. I realize you’ve already picked up the Valvoline...just an FYI to anyone else reading this.

Current price on a 5qt jug is ~$25, but with a $12 rebate on oil only ($15 on oil plus filter) that brings the cost to ~$13 or around $2.69/qt.

Yup. This would be like fluid and filter for $12 US if we were to convert oil prices.

Is that eligible in Canada?
